Founding Business Operations Manager
at Uprent
What we do
Everyone needs a home, yet the experience of renting - whether you're a tenant or a landlord - is terrible. Average person loses months of productivity on rental search. Landlords waste billions on commissions every year.
Housing issue is one of the most important problems of this generation. It is urgent to solve it.
We build a way for people to find homes auto-magically, while for landlords to rent out their property in <60 minutes for a fraction of the cost. We want you to be a part of it.
What will you do
You are the force multiplier for the team. You enable everyone else to be 10x more effective and focus purely on building product and growing users.
You will be involved in pretty much everything, working (mostly) directly with the CEO on tasks like:
- Marketing: Communities, SEO, influencers, etc.
- Hiring: Vacancies, sorting candidates, interviews, legal, etc.
- Fundraising: Sourcing investors, reaching out, etc.
- Finance: Keeping books clean, creating P&L, balance sheet, etc.
- General: All the other stuff that will appear every week, incl. anything related to the office or team
Tasks will change every week, so we're looking for a generalist.
We're looking for a rare combination: someone who is both technical and into liberal arts. We expect someone who, if not an engineer, is able to write a script to automate a task, query a database, or connect two APIs (not just vibe code). But you also need to be able to craft, for example, an incredible email or get what you need from someone over a call.
Our past experience shows that as a company grows (and we are a high-growth company), people in such generalist positions often find their way into advancing into key positions. The reason is simple: they have a unique insight into practically every part of the company and 'get' the culture from working directly with the CEO. We hope you will be that person. We are not afraid of you growing. On the contrary, we will do everything in our power to encourage it.
Working culture
Both Yury and Alex have been building startups for years with zero breaks. We only hire people with engineering backgrounds, so our team culture is pure geekery. We are currently a team of 3, expanding to 6 over the next two months:
- CEO
- CTO
- 3 engineers
- BizOps
We build small, elite teams of 10x performers. This allows us to eliminate bureaucracy and ship at a higher velocity than anyone else.
We work hard. That means 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. Many find it crazy. Yet, this seems to attract a turns-out-not-so-rare subset of people who are tired of European corporate culture. People who want to solve a problem that actually matters, and be surrounded by the most ambitious (possibly, autistic - you're warned!) people, united by the shared purpose of solving a generational problem and creating a best-in-class product.
This is a sign for everyone looking to build a generational company from Europe without moving to the US: apply.
We make sure to remove all unnecessary friction from your day-to-day life. We fix (and pay for) your food, transport, cleaning of your apartment, etc.
Location
Uprent is based in the Netherlands. We prefer in-person or hybrid work. Please note: We are looking for someone with Dutch context (meaning you live or have lived here before).
If you're in the Netherlands, we don't care where you live - in Amsterdam, Zeeland, Limburg or a Frysk village. We will figure it out.
Language is not a barrier; we will happily consider non-Dutch speakers.
We can sponsor your visa, but only if you meet the reduced salary criterion for highly-skilled migrants.
Start immediately.
Offer
We expect to pay you €36,000 a year + between 0.1% and 1% in equity. You’re not just a BizOps — you’re a Founding BizOps. You’ll get actual equity. This is as close as you can get to starting a company without taking on ‘founder risks'.
We prefer a small team of 10x performers earning top-of-market salaries over a large team of average people earning average pay. This means that as soon as we hit revenue milestones or secure new funding, we’ll raise salaries to the market.
Pipeline
- Application form
- Interview - short, more of a vibe check
- Test task (short, simple)
- Second interview. This is a more in-depth conversation. This is where you will ask your questions
- Test task (hardcore)
- Job offer and legal mumbo jumbo
We are FAST
All the steps above combined generally take less than 10 days. If you’re equally quick, of course. We will get back to you within 24 hours, but probably much sooner. If you receive a reply within minutes, it's not AI. Yury reviews every application personally :)
