Why we do this

Try listing every problem the Western world has at the moment. You might include falling fertility, poor health, financial instability, slow growth, climate change, economic inequality... These contribute to a sense of malaise that many of us feel about our societies.

They may seem loosely related, but there is one big thing that makes them all worse. That thing is a shortage of housing. It's just simply too hard and too expensive to find a place to live.

If we fix housing, we will also help to solve many crucial, seemingly unrelated problems of modern society.

Uprent

Uprent is a website that cuts rental search time by 75%. We do that by completely automating sourcing homes, scheduling viewings and managing rental process. That way, humans can focus on their lives, while Uprent does rental search.

In the short term, we help people find rentals faster and more easily. In the long term, we believe we can solve housing on a systemic level.

Team

Currently, the team consists of Alex and Yury. We're best friends and first-generation immigrants. We’ve worked together for the past seven years, building several companies —one of which surpassed a million EUR in revenue. Yet, we still haven’t built the company. We're driven to prove to ourselves that we can create a generational business — and you can be a part of it.

Tech stack

SvelteKit – A lightweight framework for building fast, reactive web applications. Currently most of the codebase is in Svelte v4, but we are migrating it to v5.

ElysiaJS – A minimalist, high-performance back-end framework. Optimized to work with the Bun runtime. Provides end-to-end type safety.

SurrealDB – A flexible NoSQL database for managing complex data structures. Allows both schema-full and schema-less data, realtime updates, graph edge relations and much more.

All hosted on Fly.io.

We prioritize DX and use modern, sometimes experimental technologies. You might not be familiar with all of these yet, and that’s okay! They’re intuitive to learn, so you’ll get up to speed quickly and enjoy working with them.

We’re looking for

• Full-stack generalist; capable of handling multiple roles
• Entrepreneurial experience is a plus. Yes, we love people with their own vision!
• Fast, iterative engineering approach
• Motivated by building products and seeing users enjoy them
• Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly
• Time zone alignment (maximum 3-hour difference with Amsterdam)
• EU residence
• Proficient in English (minimum B2 level)

Compensation

You will be our first hire, so we’ll be generous with equity and stock options. You will receive anywhere from 0.1% to 5% of the company, close to co-founder-level ownership.

Your comp will be 4,000 EUR gross. It will be a contractor agreement signed on Remote.com. The compensation will increase with funding rounds / milestones achievements.
