If you’re a landlord and found your property on Uprent, you might be wondering why it’s here. We understand your concerns, and we’re happy to explain how our system works.
Uprent does not create listings or manually add properties to our platform. Instead, we aggregate publicly available rental data from various sources across the internet. This means that if your property has ever been listed for rent on a public website, it may have been detected and included in our rental history database.
We display both properties that are currently available for rent and those that have been rented in the past. To ensure clarity, we mark such properties with a respective status, indicating that they are not currently on the market.
We do not store or display any private or personal information about landlords, tenants, or owners — only publicly available rental data about specific properties.
Similar data (and often even more detailed) can be found on various other platforms like Huispedia, Drimble, Kadasterdata, and even Funda or real estate agency websites, where old rented listings often remain accessible.
Tenants (and property owners) can leave reviews on properties they have visited or lived in. The rental market today heavily favors landlords, who receive hundreds of applications while having full insight into tenants’ income, financial history, relationships, and more. Meanwhile, tenants have little to no way of knowing what they’re moving into.
That’s why we allow tenants to share their experiences. Reviews provide future renters with a better understanding of what to expect before committing to a home. We do not allow unfairly critical reviews and are actively working on ways for landlords to address and counter any false claims, ensuring a fair and balanced system for everyone.
We're not taking sides and don’t think either party is to blame — everyone is a hostage of the current market conditions and, to a large extent, regulations. In fact, we’re working on solutions to help landlords cut costs in renting out properties, just as we’ve created an incredible product for tenants. This is currently available in test mode for a select group of hand-picked landlords.
Yes. Uprent operates fully within the boundaries of the law. We aggregate and display publicly available rental data, which is legally permissible under Dutch and European regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Since all the data we display is already public, we are not legally obligated to remove it. Removing one property would not change the fact that this same information is still available on multiple other public sources.
At Uprent, we are building the most comprehensive rental property database in the Netherlands — and soon, across Europe. A database like this isn’t truly complete without all available properties. Of course, as long as this database contains only publicly available property information — not details about its owners.
We want to assure you that we never collect or display personal data. We do not list owner names, contact details, or any private information. Nor do we have this data in the first place. Our goal is to make rental search more transparent and efficient, not to interfere with landlords' business or privacy.
